Play Therapy

Play is a child’s natural medium of expression. Play Therapy is a therapeutic approach which makes use of play and play mediums to help children work through difficulties. Very often the problems that children experience are too big for them to handle, and it is through therapeutic play and the use of specially identified therapeutic material that they are able to communicate their feelings in an environment that is safe and manageable. The therapist then works with the child to identify difficulties, learn more adaptive behaviour, promote cognitive development and provide insights into inner conflicts and dysfunctional cognitions.
