Story Time, Planting and Lots of Laughter

Today we had a real treat of having Hila’s safta come especially to read us a couple of stories. The children really enjoyed this, and it is always so special when family gets involved with the day to day running of the nursery. We also planted some flowers out front, everyone got involved with digging, planting and watering our new flowers. On a sader note, today we said goodbye to Naomi and Eithan, who have really become part of the family, but with Becky remaining involved we are confident that we will continue to see them and have them join us on occassion.

Safta’s Story Time!

Last week we had our family sukkot celebration. It was such a pleasure to see the children with their families enjoying the day together. The children had prepared beautiful little creations to decorate our modest sukka, and had even baked some cakes for the day. We also had an opportunity to show the parents and siblings what we have been learning! It has been a real gift to be part of this small group of families.

What we’ve been up to?

What a beautiful start to the week. The kids really had such a good time on our last walk that we decided to make it a regular start of the week activity. Today we went for a walk to the nearby park, where we had a little picnic, foraged from the fruit trees, and even managed a circle time. Everyone has settled in so well, and we are now looking forward to becoming a little more structured and more focused on our weekly projects. Also very exciting is hearing some English words and phrases, particularly when singing.

This week we will be focusing on Sukkot, and the children have all been learning songs, and producing beautiful art work, which will decorate our little nursery Sukka.

Nature Walk

Today we started working on our Sukkot decorations. As part of this project, we went on a nature walk to collect some leaves. The kids had the best day, and thoroughly enjoyed our walk. Following the long break over Rosh Hashanah, this was a great bonding activity, and really brought the more timid of the bunch out of their beautiful shells. We were all so pleased to see them all participating, making friends and most importantly, having fun!

First Week

This week was our very first at Binyamina Montessori. All the children have been absolutly fantastic, and have settled beautifully. So, what have we been up to? Well, this week we have been learning eachother’s names, and talking about families, who is in the family and looking at families around the world. We have also been painting up a storm for the Rosh Hashanah projects, as well as baking some lovely honey cakes!
