Learning about Rain

Keeping with the topic of seasons, and autumn, this week we are learning about RAIN. This was our first little project for the week, and they will be learning this rhyme for the remainder of this week.

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

The old man is snoring,

He went to bed and he bumped his head,

And couldn’t get up in the morning

Please take time to look at their art board, and comment on what they have made, they are so proud of their work, and your interest will reinforce their learning.

Our new work corner

We are slowly adding to our little nursery, and this new work corner is proving to be a firm favourite! It is the true effectiveness of the montessori environment at it’s best. Children are drawn to areas of interest, and become absorbed in learning. It has been interesting to observe them all becoming more focused and being able to maintain their concentration on one activity for longer periods.

Music Lesson

We are very blessed to have Annabell and Emily’s Safta come to us for a weekly music lesson. She comes for more than 30 years of experience this area, and has such an amazing gift with children. She teaches them rhythm, and music appreciate, which is usually centred around the current topic we are focusing on at the nursery. This week she taught them about autumn, rain and wind. The children loved the music, and where able to maintain their concentration for an impressive length of time.

Mealtime

Mealtime is one of our favourite times of the day at nursery! A number of the parents often join us for this special time in the morning, which is quite a sight to behold. Nine little bodies, dinning together in the outdoors, mostly engrossed in the moment and typically entertained by a book or two. Who wouldn’t want to be part of this special moment?

New Song…

As we are busy learning about body parts, today we started learning this very popular and catching song which you can practice at home:

Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes,

Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes,

and…Eyes, and ears and mouth and nose,

Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes.

If you need help with the tune, give me a call and I can hum it out quickly 😉

These are also the main new words for the week, so try reinforce these at home.
