A is for Apple

Children show interest to learning letters of the alphabet at varying ages, but interest can generally be seen between the ages of 3 to 4 years. This past year we have been visiting this topic by introducing letters, while building on vocabulary in different unit themes, such as ‘s’ is for star in our solar system theme, or ‘b’ is for bear in our brown bear theme. As this is a second language for most of the children, I try to keep the lessons on language informal and fun. Here is an example of how the letter ‘a’ is reinforced, this activity is completed, and later in our circle time we talk about the letter ‘a’ and other words we can think of that start with the same letter.
