This wthe children week we started a new excercise for name recognition. Using pictures and name labels the children start by matching up their name to their picture. This is done durning the morning circle, and at present they are given their names and are then required to match it to their picture. As their recognition of their name improves, they will then be given the picture and match it to their name. Later, pictures will be removed and they will then only be recognising their names. Introduction to letters is very often best down by begining with the name of the child. This is a point of interest to them, and they begin to learn that each object has a unique name, which is written in a unique way.
